Re: over dubbing
So the whistle is your backing track. Does it sound good in the computer? Disconnect the H5 and play the whistle into your headphones in the computer and then again into whatever your natural speakers are. When you plug it back in, do it first, and then start Audacity. Does the whistle have blue wav...

Re: Please check sound and advise
I have to max out the mic amplification There is one "magic" consideration. It's not good to operate audio equipment at the extremes, either too far up or too far down. That's where manufacturing tolerances start to fall apart. In my opinion, I would change nothing but the microphone spac...

Re: Please check sound and advise
It doesn't need much. Audiobook Mastering will bring up the volume with little or no sound damage. Again, in my opinion, Jim has a quiet enough background noise that he can back away a little bit with no serious problem. He passes Noise at -76dB. The fuzzy rule is to be able to pass at -65dB and the...

Re: Noise floor
What he said. How is the Behringer PMP4000 connected to your computer?

This is noejim-before after I mastered it and no Noise Gate. noejim-Mastered.wav Screen Shot 2020-04-27 at 4.03.16.png I think he sounds more natural without the Noise Gate. His background noise is very quiet naturally. If you don't like his voice quality, you might try recording with a little more ...

Did Windows Search fail to find them, or are you sifting through your files manually?

Re: How to restore project aup files?
As above, the little AU files are six seconds long. They alternate Left and Right if you have a stereo show. You can use the computer file time and date stamps to get close, but unfortunately, Windows settings don't get you close enough to completely reconstruct a show. So the best you can do is mak...

Re: tempo changes not there
Did you check your work on One before you went on to Two.
Effect > Change Tempo has several different ways to tell it what to do. Which did you use and what were your correction values?

Re: Getting rid of the "s' sounds
Harsh, piercing SS sound is called "Essing," and there is an Audacity tool for it. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=79278 DeEsser, also DeClicker. I use these settings because I'm not very good at deciphering the instructions. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/...
