Re: troubleshoot mp3 playback

That's because iTunes doesn't use MP3. iTunes native music format is AAC which Audacity doesn't understand. See if Super or Switch can convert for you -- or rip the original CD in cdex. A cdex rip will be better quality. Both MP3 ands AAC are destructive compressors and cause damage while they're wo...

Re: Only one track seems to be recording?

Check out the Audacity Preferences; Quality or Audio I/O. Audacity 1.2 wakes up at first birthday in 44100, 32-floating, Mono. Change to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Restart Audacity after you do that.

Re: Burn cd

If you have your edit open, Export As WAV to produce a stand-alone sound file.

You can put a label at the beginning of each song (Control-B) and Export Multiple. That will give you several WAV files -- one per song -- that you can re-arrange in Windows Media before you burn your Music CD.

Re: Recording audio from MSN and Skype chat videos

I'm discovering one problem with many packages that doesn't get mentioned. Pamela Business and Professional can be configured to record each conversation on one side of a stereo show. This makes post production a snap as you can apply filters to the individual voices and do a mixdown to a perfectly ...

Re: Issue with using mike and Vista (Audacity version 1.2.6)

It's usual for all the recording sources to go to a control panel and give you the ability to adjust the volumes.

Re: using the noise reduction in version 1.3.7

The amount value is pretty simple, more effect as you go higher. The lower, the better. It could be argued that you should leave a little noise in the background, so the show doesn't sound like it's in a black hole. Also, once you do produce a "velvety black" background, it's much harder t...

Re: HOW TO CREATE TRACKS

While the composite is on the timeline, Press Control-B at the beginning of each song. That will set a label. Then File > Export Multiple and audacity will produce a pile of individual sound files, one per song. Import into your Music CD burning program (in any order you want) and you will be able t...

Re: major headache trying to get this to work

We are talking about Audacity, right? Did somebody try to sell you the program?

Audacity 1.2 comes free with many USB turntables, but that doesn't work any more if you have a modern Mac.

Click Apple > About This Mac and read what it says. Which Mac have you got? iMac, PowerBook, MacBook?

Re: Can't see opened aup file

That usually comes from a misunderstanding of what an AUP file is. It's not sound. It's computer programming that you can open up in NotePad and read. Here's a picture of a simple one... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/aup1.jpg Note down around line 7, there is a listing: aliasfile="/User/koz/De...
