Re: Lag from keyboard(music) to monitor/playback
If you're going to get it to work at all, you should mess with Audacity Preferences, Hardware Playthrough and Software Playthrough. Software playthrough is usualty slower. You didn't say you were on Audacity 1.2, but if you are, you should also install 1.3. You can have both on your machine as long ...

Re: My mic level is really low
Skype Isn't Normal. To get the reliability, Skype does some very powerful magic which is one of the reasons nobody has ever been able to record both sides of a Skype phone call without jumping through serious hoops. After Skype is done, it normally turns the machine back over to The Real World where...

<<<I've decided that saving as an mp3 >>> Exporting as an MP3. Audacity does not save sound files. Do one really short file and make sure it works. You have to take extra steps to get MP3 to work. My understanding is OGG can give you compression and smaller files without damaging the sound. MP3 and ...

Andrews Sisters Tutorial?
I don't get along with the search system to begin with, but I don't think I've ever seen a tutorial for multi-laying a performance. Record Maxine and then play her while I record Patty and then play both of those while I'm recording LaVerne. There's no shortage of people wanting to know how to do th...

Probably headphones in your headphone or Line-Out connection on the sound card. Go into Audacity Preferences and select "Play Other Tracks While Recording a New One." You may need to restart Audacity.

Audacity has little or no support fort ASIO. See if there are Windows drivers for your device.

You can get that if you never pressed STOP after you finished your capture.

Re: troubleshoot mp3 playback
<<<What I want to do is have an mp3 that I can open in Audacity to edit.>>> Probably not. MP3 is a compressed format that can easily cause sound damage while it's working. Far better to edit WAV sound files, particularly since the music on a CD is a really close cousin to WAV anyway. The easiest way...

Re: Keyboard Question
When Windows machines do this, we sometimes tell people to reinstall Audacity. You know you got a good, fresh installation when Audacity asks you "English?" at first birthday. If it does not ask you for a language, you may have a damaged Registry. Write back. If that fails, remove Audacity...
