Re: Snow Leopard compatibility?
Your Mac likes to open music up in its natural media player which is iTunes. You can stop that from happening by being specific about the application. Right Click the file > Open With.. > QuickTime Player (or whatever). Control-Click the file > Open With.. > QuickTime Player (or whatever). Select th...

Re: static on words in recording
You don't even have to change settings for a test. Start a recording and talk normally. Slowly back away from the microphone until you're very clearly way too far back to get any kind of good quality. If if you pass one distance where most if not all of the damage fades away, then you are overloadin...

Re: Clipping
Mac/Intel/Leopard does not support Audacity 1.2.
I personally use 1.3.7 for day to day work.
Audacity 1.3.7 -- Mac

If adventure runs in your blood, go for the latest 1.3.8 or 9 version.

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 crashes with Remote Desktop
There's a portion of the forum called "Adding Features." http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewforum.php?f=20 And yes, the development team is juggling three current versions and one new version ... on three different computing platforms. They don't get to test every software package and confi...

Re: Mac won't burn CD?
Does it still play movies and Music CDs? Visit your local Office Supply store and get a small stack of Sony CD-R blanks. Put one of those in and see if the machine can mount it. It should give you a "what should I do?" dialog that you can OK. If it continues to click, you have a broken CD ...

<<< Not sure if I'm up to modding it to PAT-5 status, but thanks for the offer.>>>
I think it's more serious than that. I have the documents to make a PAT5 much better, not to upgrade a PAT4.

Re: static pop even after normalize
You may have a number of the tools mixed up. Normalize > Remove DC Level (Only!) removes any DC damage that may be present in the clip so that it will not click or pop when you combine it with another clip. It's an editing thing and has nothing to do with straight playback quality. If you have a sna...

Re: Merge 2 tracks
Not in Audacity 1.2. We're pushing everybody over to Audaciy 1.3 anyway, so this is a golden opportunity. You can install 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2. In 1.3: Tracks > Stereo Track To Mono. If you still insist on a Ste...
