Re: 'play' and 'return to start' functions disabled
<<<the recording is clear as a bell with the cable from the stereo jack to the mic jack!>>> You win. Most people don't. Is the show in stereo? If you blow up the two blue waves several times, are they identical in their up and down motion hills and valleys. Do you have two blue waves? http://kozco.c...

Re: Snow Leopard compatibility?
<<<Am using an iMac Intel and have Snow Leopard installed.>>> Please note that I didn't say anything about Snow Leopard. My Snow Leopard license is on the credenza in the shrink wrap (the disk, not the credenza) waiting for me to open it. It doesn't always pay to be The First On Your Block. Let me k...

Re: no sound with OS X 10.5.8 and Audacity 1.x.x
First, Leopard wasn't intended to run on a PowerPC machine. Tiger was the last OS to do that with good stability. I don't think Snow Leopard will run on a G machine at all. So you've just done your last upgrade and even at that, it may not have worked right. Do you still have your Tiger disks? <<<I ...

Re: clipfix
Click Removal. That's the one that tries to figure out which sound is the drum and which is the cat hair on the record. It works remarkably well. After all the cat hairs are gone, then you can use all the automatic loudness tools. If you need Clip Fix for a record transfer, you're recording it way t...

Re: Recording volume problem
<<<Cabled from tape deck line-out to computer line-in.>>> I bet not. I bet it's plugged into the computer Mic-In (sometimes pink). The microphone input on a Windows machine is terrifically sensitive and there are no good volume control settings to do what you want. It's either nothing or Fire Hose. ...

Re: newbie on audacity
Sound Layering is certainly possible in Audacity and people do it all the time. However, apparently nobody stopped long enough to write down how they did it. You can search this forum or go down the lists under Tips and Tutorials at the top of this page. I can tell you exact what's happening, but no...

<<<When I make a live recording>>>
Capturing a vinyl record is not making a "live recording," but I'm splitting hairs. Is that what you're really doing?

Re: Sound Card Reviews
<<<Any help would be appreciated.>>> Unless you're reviewing a sound card, you need to repost this in the help forum under your computer type (Windows/Mac/Linux) and version of Audacity. After you do that, come back and kill this post with the little [X] to the right. The regular help elves will be ...
