Re: recording vhs to pc analogue to digital ...hiss really b
The last generation of VHS videotapes had VHS-HiFi in addition to the traditional analog, edge-of-the-tape sound tracks. VHS HiFi was a pretty good deal. Re: exported wav or mp3 files not showing up in explorer
Export music files to your desktop, use them, and then move them to wherever you eventually want them. The magic of "Export" is that you get stand-alone sound files and you can safely move them anywhere, anytime.

Re: Need help - Device is blank
Audacity keeps its operating preferences in the Windows Registry -- or at least it did until you "cleaned" it. This should let you completely remove the Audacity portion of the Registry http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Audacity_Preferences#Resetting_Preferences_to_defaults You'...

Re: recording phone messages
You are almost certainly recording the PowerBook built-in microphone instead of the message recorder connection. The PB Line-In connection looks like a circle with two black arrows. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Switch to Line-In. There is a little sound meter there and it c...
