Re: Get error message when I use save as...

<<<the disk is full or write protected>>> That's the error you get when you use bad filenames. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and dash. That's the whole list. No dates, no slash marks, no punctuation. I have to move files around a large company, so I don't use spaces, either. FX-V...

Re: [Help Needed] Low Volume when exporting MP3

Nobody is shocked if different players play the same sound file at different volumes. They usually each have their own volume controls. It's much more difficult to believe that the WAV and the MP3 sound the same as each other in Audacity, but different from each other in Windows Media or other playe...

Re: Instructions Needed To Record Voice Message

I would change the Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit (not 32) and Stereo (not Mono). Restart Audacity. Click once inside the red record meters and they should wake up and meter your microphone without making a recording. This makes it very easy to set levels. (Ignore the blue waves in this illus...

Re: LAME help.

<<<it just runs the installer.>>> That's the way the new service works. What happens if you OK the installer and let it go? Even if you do get the lame installed, there's a better than even chance it may not work right because of the version splits. Audacity 1.2.5 was written at the end of the Hardi...

Re: Stereo Mix Troubles

You might have another problem as well. High recording volume shows up right away and that's not what you have (well, maybe some of that, too). Yours gets louder as you go. That can happen when you set up the Windows Control Panel wrong and you record the show in two pathways or record the show and ...

Re: [Help Needed] Low Volume when exporting MP3

<<<the volume is still about the same as when I recorded it>>> Most people say that when they really mean "capture from the internet." Is that what you did? Download this little six second sound file... http://www.kozco.com/tech/piano2.wav Open it in Audacity and Export as Wav and Export a...

Re: Instructions Needed To Record Voice Message

That may be a little stiff for you because it covers too much. Do you have a headset microphone already? Does it work?

Re: silence after 16seconds

I have a Duo Core Intel machine running Tiger (10.4) and it supports Audacity 1.2.5 just ducky, but this machine also has a test boot into Leopard and it will not run Audacity 1.2. I also have an Intel MacBookPro running Leopard (10.5) and that one will not run Audacity 1.2, either. Mac/Intel/Leopar...

Re: silence after 16seconds

You're running a newer Intel Mac with 10.5 or later, right? You have the wrong Audacity. Trash the Audacity application and dig around until you find the Preference file. It changed depending on Audacity version. Trash Mac Audacity Preferences http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8...
