Re: Could You Possibly Clean Up This Song?

It's going to sound exactly like the MP3 file. I used an MP3 setting that has very, very good quality. But it clearly is MP3, and if your software has troubles with that, then we need to use the WAV.

Re: noise was low, now it's high

<<<line-in/microphone jack on the PC>>> PC Laptop? How sure are you that you have a Line-In? Does your laptop switch between them? they're very, very different and it's very common for a PC Laptop to not have a Stereo Line-In. <<<now I have to turn the keyboard volume way down>>> Right. That's what ...

Re: Can I save the project with only the active tracks?

Even with all the Projects and WAV files and all the king's horses, the UNDO service vanishes when you close the project. That's why you want to keep perfectly virgin capture master WAV files available in case you have to start over. This is also the reason it makes our teeth hurt when people keep i...

Re: How to add a carrier frequency

That's what the vocoder does. I think it works with all versions above 1.3.7. When somebody sings but their voice is that of a vioin or other instrument. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=7372&start=0#p29076 It takes two signals and modulates one with the other. I don't know...

Re: Could You Possibly Clean Up This Song?

I can post the WAV file -- but it will need to wait until I get off work. It's at home.

Re: Transcription

MP3 always introduces some sound damage, WAV doesn't, but the files are very large. How important is file size against quality?

Re: Recording vocals. They come out SO low!

If you do decide you made a mistake, copy/paste the message into a new thread and delete this one, but it's too late now. If you started a second thread, go back and delete that one. People post in the wrong place all the time, but double posting is very awkward and frowned on. USB microphones can b...

Re: Records/plays for a few seconds then stops

No. That's enough.

Audacity doesn't always get along so well with M-Audio equipment. They use ASIO software drivers and ASIO keeps wanting to be paid for them.

See if your sound device has Windows drivers.

Re: Recording sound directly from PC

Convenient internal recording has been carefully filtered out of a lot of newer machines. Macs have never been able to do this and the PC people are starting to see the wisdom of that. Multiple recursive feedback sound pathways get (PC) people into trouble all the time, and it's serious magic when i...

Re: Can I save the project with only the active tracks?

10%. If you can't maintain 10% free space on all your mounted drives, then your project is too big. If you're doing fancy-pants multi-track real time production, the number goes way up. We start to notice speed and data problems with a drive 70% to 80% full. This is assuming a 40GB, 60GB and 80GB sy...
