Re: Help! When I load a FLAC file, playback is garbled.
<<<When I load a flac file and play it>>> The words are forcing themselves past my lips; has this particular FLAC file ever worked? Which version of Audacity played it? Did Audacity make it? Do non-FLAC files load and play OK? http://www.kozco.com/tech/piano2.wav Does that short sound clip play? Koz

Nuking Defaults
When you launch a fresh Audacity, which defaults do you immediately change as a natural reflex? 1. 32-floating to 16-bit. 2. Mono to Stereo (if applicable). 3. Always copy music to the Project. 4. Deselect Update Display while Playing. 5. 4096 Spectrogram. -- Less Universal -- 6. Add Lame. 7. Add Ch...

Re: How to add a carrier frequency
<<<Here is the above code put all together in one command>>> Now you're just showin' off. To get a presentable square wave you need at least three significant harmonics. That means the sound card would have to pass 115 KHz. On its audio connection. There are radio stations at that frequency. Koz

Re: Plays when created, but not after being saved
The blue waves are drawn by two picture files and it's not hard to get them out of step with the show. Projects are not sound files. They're Production Environment Managers. Their job is to point to all the parts of your show which can be many hundreds of different files all over your computer. If y...

Re: Change Audacity Sound Input
Help > About Audacity. And we're going to need that number. That's where the Windows people put it. What are you recording, from where, and how is it connected? Which Mac, Which OS and Which Processor? Apple > About This Mac. I'm typing on an Intel Mac Mini with Tiger (OS-X 10.4.11). Koz

Re: Could You Possibly Clean Up This Song?
You're welcome. It was an interesting exercise because I used several tools not usually intended for this application. For example, on a whim, I used the tool that gets rid of clicks on phonograph records to get rid of the clicks and pops on your performance. Several odd tools like that. Anyone with...

Re: Plays when created, but not after being saved
Audacity Projects aren't sound files. You can make actual sound files by Export As WAV instead of "Save," or you can make the Projects self-contained and less likely to break by clicking... Edit > Preferences > File Formats > Make a copy of the file... Your damaged shows may be gone foreve...

<<<His rips of them sounded a lot better! It's hard to explain but mine sounded like more of an 'outdoor' kind of sound.... too trebly.. Not very much bass in them.<<< If you're still there, can you post a short chunk of sound you think has bad or weak bass? You can't do it on the forum, but there a...

Re: very bassy recordings ...
Your voice goes the wrong way. When you start having computer speed problems -- for any of a list of reasons -- the computer will not be able to keep up during the recording, so it produces a digital performance where the singers are too high. What's wrong with this picture? Your voices went down. T...
