Re: unable to hear recording
It's more usual for USB to mess this up, but you can get problems with straight analog, too. Audacity is pretty much a complete slave to the machine that's running it. You should go into the Windows Sound Control Panels and make sure...I think it's "Speakers" and "Line" or "...

Re: Disappearing data files!
Oh, wait. The coffee is kicking in. Are you trying to open a 1.3 project in 1.2? That doesn't work. You may be able to get your work back by installing 1.3 and opening the projects in that. You can safely put both 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projec...

Re: Problem with 2 USB mics as aggregated device
First I heard of this Aggregated Device thing.
In all instances, Audacity is still a complete slave to the computer it's running on. Audacity picks up sound from the computer sound services -- always. No computer, no sound.

Re: Can Audacity Record VoIP Conversations, or not?
And we never tire of reminding people that "Stereo Mix" and "What U Hear" are both tied to the sound card. Get the wrong sound card and either or both of those could be missing. Some of the newer Windows Laptops have a built-in sound card with both of those missing. In those case...

Re: M-Audio Transit
Most of the M-Audio line uses ASIO drivers. Audacity doesn't directly support ASIO because they keep wanting to be paid for it.

Re: Can Audacity Record VoIP Conversations, or not?
Recording Skype calls in a useful manner is far from simple. Do a Skype forum search. Audacity will not do two things at the same time no matter how you split up the tasks. Recording Skype calls is not simple because in addition to the bi-directional problem, Skype rips control of the sound card awa...
