Re: apply chain on files trouble
"Chains" is very simple and it applies to a very limited number of specific effects and file management tools. It's not a programming language. ========================================= Audacity Beta allows a chain of effects to be created and run as a batch process. Click File > Edit Chai...

Re: Recursive batch conversion of FLAC to MP3
Audacity Beta allows a chain of effects to be created and run as a batch process. Click File > Edit Chains... to create the chain. Click File > Apply Chain... to apply the chain to the current project, or to audio files. Chains can be applied to a selected track or region in the project, just as you...

<<<"File is not writable or disk is full">>> It's not the "Disk Full" part that was killing you, it was the "File Not Writable." You can get that if you put punctuation marks in the filename. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and dash. That's it. No othe...

Re: Voice Recording yields small soundwave -- help?
Also, the graphics in Audacity are occasionally misleading. When you listen to your quiet recording, where does the green sound meter bounce? USB microphones are low. They have to be because there is no way to adjust sound level in the middle of a performance. Quiet recordings are awkward, but overl...

Re: An Audio problem when using mp3 in both camtasia and WMM
Audacity defaults to 32-bit floating for its WAV & MP3 file production. That can cause problems. See what happens when you change the Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit Stereo. Restart Audacity. You can change your other songs to 16-bit. Here's a piece from earlier about conversions. http://f...

Re: blue snowball mic??
The microphone mounts itself as a sound device and you may need to select it in the Windows control panels. After that, go into Audacity Preferences and select the same thing for Recording, plus change to 44100, 16-bit, Mono. That's important because it you use Stereo, Audacity will not recognize th...

Re: Transcription
We once set up someone with a footswitch and the whole transcription deal, but I can't find the thread. I think the poster was actually typing into a second computer, but needed hands-free operation on the first one.
