Re: file export dialog box
a. You're in the wrong Audacity, or b. You're looking in the wrong place. a. The 1.3 versions of Audacity allow you to set the export quality and character right at the export step. Audacity 1.2 will not do that. b. Audacity 1.2 sets all its file parameters in Edit > Preferences. You frequently have...

Re: Convert mono mp3 to stereo without re-encoding
Audacity re-encodes everything, so that let's us out right away. Your only hope is one of the many fine MP3 cutter programs out there. I'm betting you can't get there from here. It's one thing to whack off three minutes from the end of an hour show and not have to re-encode what's left. It's quite a...

Re: Plethora of annoying issues with Audacity- HELP!
Now that you can see the information after the dot in the file name, you can go into one of the _DATA folders and it should be full of something.au files. Those may feel and taste like sound files, but they're not. When you Save (not Export), Audacity creates a something.aup project manager, a _data...

<<<playing back my track and listening through headphones, it sounded like Alvin the Chipmunk (not really that bad, but certainly not natural-sounding). Re: Plethora of annoying issues with Audacity- HELP!
<<<I saved it under a simple name, as instructed. >>> Did you do that system change thing where Windows stops hiding the file names? We won't get very much further if you didn't do that. When you Exported As WAV for your test performance, do you now have a file called "something.wav?" Koz

Re: An Audio problem when using mp3 in both camtasia and WMM
I found this the first time a voice performer posted that her audition performance failed to play on a client's computer. I downloaded it and converted it from a 32-bit floating base to 16 and then reposted it. Everyone could play the work and she succeeded in getting the job.
Everybody wins.

Re: Plethora of annoying issues with Audacity- HELP!
Windows is OK if everything goes right, but if it doesn't, the system is heavily biased to grind itself straight into the mud.

<<<That is sooo weird. >>> OK, that's enough of that. Let's change Windows so you can see what's actually there instead of what Windows would like you to believe is there. Re: help for sound noise suppression ... (directSound)
The first time you do live recording, it's a shock when you realize how noisy your surroundings are. People sail through their day tuning out the airplanes, buses, cellphones, conversations, etc. I lived on a large farm in upstate NY and it was always funny watching people from New York City trying ...

Re: Plethora of annoying issues with Audacity- HELP!
<<<errors should have been fixed in that version, right??>>> Well, no because the developers don't always consider them errors. You think you downloaded a WAV editor. The developers are designing an Editorial Production Environment Manager. No small difference there. <<<selected"save as" a...
