Re: How to connect PA system to Audacity
We can do anything with the amplifier, but the problem is almost always the computer. You said the computer had a Line-In. The web site did not say the computer had a line-in. Having one is critical for recording your music. Most laptops have a place to plug in a mono, very low-level microphone for ...

Re: Matching sound volume of recordings
With one complete show on the timeline, Effect > Amplify. That should help a lot. We warn people that doing production on MP3 files can lead to damage. If I were going to record shows from NPR, I would save them as WAV (which will be huge), cut, etc, produce, and level set, and then, only later Expo...

Re: Sending/Posting an Audacity file
We assume you Exported as WAV, not Save. Audacity does not Save sound files. Assuming that, next time you Export As WAV, export to the desktop. Sometimes, Audacity will default to Exporting to its hidden, protected folder. Normal People (you) aren't allowed to go in there. If you did actually Save i...

How are you listening? Two speakers and a Music System amplifier? Headphones? Computer Speakers? One speaker?

Re: Balancing Voice and Instuments
My money is on phase cancellation somewhere. The songs with the singer in the exact center of the stereo sound duck in volume because the voice on the right cancels the one on the left. If the other songs have the singer off center, or no singer at all, everything would appear to be OK. I'm working ...

Re: help for sound noise suppression ... (directSound)
The blue waves on the timeline and the bouncing green lights of the sound meter will work no matter what the sound is. People do not work like that. If you have very low sounds, like a heavy truck driving by your house or an earthquake, you can record very loud sounds in Audacity, but when you liste...

Re: Plethora of annoying issues with Audacity- HELP!
<<<(can't remember how it works in 1.2.x)>>>
I don't think like that. We had several complaints of people who tried to split up projects like that and it didn't work.

Re: Plethora of annoying issues with Audacity- HELP!
I know the Exported Show does not respond to the mute and solo buttons on the left, but if you have successfully saved your Project, you can open it and delete two of the tracks with the little "x" on the left and then Export. Then close the whole thing without saving and open up the three...

Re: a new question about sample rate
<<<except that people who listen to MP3 have not a long enough attention span to investigate goood ol' stereo and the time it takes to enjoy it>>> It's worse than that. Somebody's been doing reviews of college students for a while and more and more of them prefer to listen to MP3 damage over anythin...

Re: help for sound noise suppression ... (directSound)
People pay good money to get sound numbers closer and closer to perfect. Quiet Noise is always present, but now much noise you have depends on money. Directly. The built-in sound card in your laptop can have very bad noise even if you plug an expensive microphone in. The intense electrical noise ins...
