Re: Setting RMS level

I am trying not to freak out with all the instructions and techy words. You are replacing a professional announcer, recording engineer, and post production manager. So yes, that's going to come up. You can still use all those people. Forum posters arrive having done professional audiobooks and want...

Re: Setting RMS level

My file is usually -49 to -46 db. That's super quiet. If you record your voice very quiet, even using tools to boost the RMS (volume) aren't going to work because if you're trying to read for audiobooks, that boosting is going throw off the other submission measurements. Describe your microphone, c...

Re: iRig Recording Delay

I remember going through all this. I think I had an iRig at one time. There's no way to tell from the advertising literature whether or not the interface will do this monitoring trick. It's rough going.

Re: iRig Recording Delay

I think the Behringer UM2 has everything you need. It has XLR microphone input, +48v Phantom Power option, Line In, Separate Instrument In and it will do a headphone theatrical mixdown both directions at once. Select DIRECT MONITOR. Re: iRig Recording Delay

on my IRig it is either one or the other. Are there some other switch settings that I need to look at? Switch to a new interface? Behringer UCA-202, for one example, supports hearing yourself in perfect real time and letting you hear the backing track. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peavey...

Re: Bizarre recording issue

What else is the machine doing? Many apps all open at once? Apps napping in the Dock? Laptop? Do you ever get the spinning beachball? Shut down the WiFi with the fan symbol upper right. Apple (upper left) > Shut Down... Watch for a tiny spinning daisy and see how long it stays on the screen. That's ...

Re: Background noise meteor mic recording even though completely quiet in room

the hang loose rule is awesome. You are exactly the first person who recognized that. That noise is the digital USB system interfering with the analog voice. We have published a Mosquito Killer effect plugin to specifically deal with it. Mosquito-Killer4.ny "8 mosquitoes" is usually enoug...

Re: USB Mixer Skype Mix Minus

I can get my audio working and recording but I cannot get skype to record as well. Any help would be awesome. That's normal. I would have bet you couldn't do it on Macs either. You may have that celebrity unicorn setup where the connections and services only work on that one Mac. These pop up every...

Re: Help with fixing this clip

the problem was that my gain was set too high. Post a sound file of that wave. If it's under 10 seconds, Export > Export as WAV. Scroll down to the bottom of a forum window > Attachments > Add Files. Gonna try this one more time. We'd really like to avoid repeated problems like this. Koz
