Re: Newbie questions

I'll put you down as another person trying to run Audacity over a network. I don't believe it's worked yet. Audacity doesn't know how to deal with network delays and packet management.

Re: Playback troubles

I guess we should probably correct one item right away. The M-Audio device doesn't produce AUP files.

From the web site...

"Simply record WAV (BWF) and MP3 files to CompactFlash or Microdrives."

So which did you do?

Re: silence after 16seconds

I understood that the reason Audacity woke up not saving all the sound files was that it was much faster managing already existing single external files than trying to make them all up out of billions of .au files. It would be easy to fool me. I don't use Projects and I disagree with the whole Expor...

Re: Error while opening sound device - can't track it down

In addition, you should probably reset Audacity preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. The native Audacity wakes up Mono and 32-bit.

It's there, but it's a little rough to find.

Re: silence after 16seconds

So to bring this all around. Always Export As WAV to make safety copies of all your original performance work. WAV is a perfect sound file type and you can make copies onto a thumb drive against the time your machine doesn't start one day. Then go into Audacity preferences and select... Import/Expor...

Re: silence after 16seconds

Remember the original complaint? <<<When I save as a project and then open the project again later the sound stops after about 16 seconds. With a few seconds to go before the end of the project the sound starts again.>>> Say you did a fade up at the beginning and fade out at the end of a performance...

Re: silence after 16seconds

<<<Just tried changing the file extensions to .au - bad idea. Now I get error messages looking for the missing .auf files. Don't remember which ones to switch back...>>> Right. Now you really have no show. Stay out of the _data folder, or I guess now it doesn't make any difference This is an old mov...

Re: Audacity corrupted Palm Pilot data

Oh, right.

I thought from the posting that Audacity was running on the PC used for Palm backups.

Re: Noob...Tempo Not Behaving properly

This can happen with a bad sound card. When you capture a live performance, the sound card creates a digital representation of the show and then sends it on to the hard drive for safekeeping. When you play back the performance, it goes through a different portion of the sound card. The two portions ...
