Re: Opening project error, not saving

One more item just because you can't get too complicated. When you do open up your aup file in TextEdit, it may not be organized too well. You know when you're writing a long message and get to the end of a line, the words automatically wrap to start a new line? TextEdit does that, too, so line 6 ma...

Re: Opening project error, not saving

Did you follow all that? The simple version is to open your aup file in TextEdit and see if you can find the damaged character in line 6 or 7. The aup file is more or less English words in xml programming language. It's not a sound file like everyone thinks it is, and that's where the damage is. On ...

Re: Cannot record properly

<<<it sounds sort of like a faint hiss in whatever i record..>>> The whole show turns into a faint hiss, or there is a faint hiss behind all the portions of the show which are otherwise clear? <<<so are you going to tell me what to do now?>>> Probably not. We're the wrong two elves for that. When yo...

Re: Recording Audio - Kiss the Mic Problem

<<<now the problem is I get too much noise with the audio>>> What kind of noise? Are you listening to the number 25 MetroBus outside your window and the LG Refrigerator cooling your hot dogs, or is this the background hiss of having turned the sound card up too far? <<<Windows7 IMO will change a lot...

<<<Is there any way to switch garage band recording without burning a CD.>>>

You lost me. I read that three times. What are you putting on the CD?

Administrate the User

When we need to adjust a users account, one of the selections is "Administrate User." Can we change that to "Administer User." Please?

Re: playback is jumpy, spastic

Every time somebody from a school posts with odd playback problems, we dig and find out they're trying to run Audacity over a network. Are you? Is the music stored on a machine other than the one trying to play it?

Re: viewing pitch levels of recording

Yes, but. If the tone is warm, rich in overtones and music quality, the spectrum is going to be complicated. This is one (1) piano note... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/piano_G1.jpg I don't think it's actually G1. I think it's the G two octaves down from middle C, but that's what happens when you a...

Re: R and L tracks

OK [rolling up sleeves]. Audacity 1.2 natural state is one channel (mono), not two channel (stereo). When you trashed your preferences, Audacity returned to First Birthday as was proper -- but not appropriate to your job. It did ask you "English?" right? That's the test of correctly trashi...

Re: Not allowing full dynamic range when recording

I think the Windows elves are recommending going to the most modern test build to get rid of problems like this.

Scroll down to "Nightly Builds."
