Re: Can't connect my keyboard to my computer
Let's take the USB first. Unless you have the one oddball keyboard in the world, the USB is to connect the control and keypresses between the computer and the keyboard, not the music. That's MIDI. You run a program on your computer that presses the keys on your keyboard through the USB cable. The ke...

Re: exporting mp3
Some of the Audacity versions show you a "metadata" panel just before exporting and it confuses people. If Audacity starts asking you for performer names, just OK that panel and go around it.

<<<Sometimes, I am just ditzy.>>> Ditzy we can handle. I'm in Los Angeles. Ditzy is a career move with its own Hollywood Union Local. The people who arrive naturally assuming the product is terrible and should be fixed immediately are harder. Them we just tell to get their money back. Koz

I used to recommend WireTap, but they grew up. It used to be WireTap, then WireTap Pro, then WireTap Studio, and the latest version is WireTap Awkward To Use, Slow, and Prone To Mistakes. They are trying really hard to be the One-Stop Shop for audio production and in the process seriously damaged th...

Re: Not allowing full dynamic range when recording
You could try the 1.3 current release. That one's not alpha software. Don't let the "Unstable Beta Software" label fool you. The current 1.3 release versions are minutes away from being re-released as the new stable version. The last two new Macs will not run Audacity 1.2, so 1.3 is the wh...

When you get your show edited in Audacity and you're happy with it, Export As WAV. Select that WAV file and drag it to the Music CD authoring and burning program of your choice. Some people use Windows Media Player. I use Easy CD Creator, Veritas, and Nero on the PC.

Re: plugins don't work
<<<all my problems have been solved >>> We'll fix that. Many plugins will not work with Audacity for a number of reasons. Lets start with Audacity 1.2 which is probably older than you are. Install Audacity 1.3 and see how that goes. You can have 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine as long as you only use on...

Re: electric guitar effect
You can probably apply the leveler at highest setting. That should create the overblown distortion typical of electric guitars. If you like the effect, you can apply it more than once. However, making your hollow-body sound like a clean Fender is a lot harder. You may be outta luck on that one. If y...

Re: Importing WAV
<<<format PCM.>>> Best money is that it's not a simple PCM file. Those would have played. A sound file that plays like a jet airplane is usually a compressed format and it's a compression that Audacity doesn't understand. Audacity throws up its hands and plays it as a straight sound file. If the mus...
