Re: Moving to new computer, Audacity doesn't record from on-line
At lease the next time it happens The successful chat or conference services change your computer settings and only some services put them back when they're done. Their product, their job, and promotion/publicity depends on total control of the sound pathways to avoid distortion, noise, feedback et...

Re: incredibly low input/mic levels
You need to help us out a little bit more.
What's the microphone and how do you have it connected? Has it ever worked?
What's the goal? Podcast, Chat, Conference, Audiobook? They all have slightly different requirements.

Re: audacity not picking up second condenser mic
I've seen bad instructions for this microphone series. It's a side-address microphone. Speak into the company name, not the round end.
It's a cousin to this microphone type.

Sometimes Windows will have settings that can affect this as well. The whole digital pathway has to be stereo.

Re: audacity not picking up second condenser mic
Newer NW-8000 condenser microphones Are those the Professional Broadcasting Studio Recording Condenser Microphones? I don't think the Presonus is the kind of mixer you think it is. I expect if you record in stereo and make sure the whole digital pathway is stereo (two channel), that you will have yo...

Re: Sound fades in automatically at each chapter start. Help!
Do you get clean readings with Punch and Roll? The traditional way to do this is make a mistake, make a marker noise by either clapping or ticking a noisemaker toy and re-read the last whole sentence without stopping the recording and keep going. Go in later and delete the trash read by finding all ...

Re: Sound fades in automatically at each chapter start. Help!
When you record your voice on the computer you should make sure the computer doesn't try to "help you." Windows machines come out of the box assuming you are a business user and are going to want to conference with other business users. The last thing you want is everybody's office backgro...

Re: Effects applied in audacity recordings
If you haven't closed Audacity, you can Edit > UNDO and it will step back through your effects. If there's nothing there, then you didn't apply reverb yet. Once you closed Audacity, the UNDO history vanishes and you can't do that. There's no good reliable way to tell the effects added to a sound fil...

Re: Bizarre recording issue
my RCA cable will not allow a recording via the headphone input on this computer Actually, if you have an old enough Mac, it has an actual Stereo Line-In. Circle with two black arrows. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg If it's a smaller Mac (13" ??) you have one hole an...
