Re: Un-synthesizing Audio

<<<I don't feel that it is quite so simple.>>> Compression damage is permanent. If you download a highly compressed, damaged audio file and convert it back up into an uncompressed wav, then you get a very large, high quality, uncompressed music file with the damage and distortion very clear and accu...

Re: Un-synthesizing Audio

We don't like trying to use compressed files for special effects work because under the best of conditions, the show keeps getting worse and worse as you edit and apply effects. Most people who write in have already badly trashed shows from multiple compressions and they want to know how to perform ...

Re: Un-synthesizing Audio

Almost all successful audio compressors damage the show. MP3, AAC, M4A, etc. The show at the end simply isn't the same show that went in. Each compressor has a quality slider and as you make the show file smaller and smaller, the quality of the performance goes down. One of the ways of making the fi...

Re: Un-synthesizing Audio

I think he's trying to establish how "un-synthesized" we have to make the song for you to copy the lyrics. At least one of those tools claims to be able to perform vocal isolation. That may be the ticket for you. All the usual restrictions apply. The show has to be in high quality stereo, ...

Re: remove dialogue from a audio file with background singin

You can be pretty safe assuming you can't take a mixed show apart into individual performances. Making the show more complicated doesn't help and all the same assumptions still apply. The show has to be in stereo -- real, high quality stereo, the show has to not be an MP3. No stereo special effects,...

Re: Post Recording Echo

I need to read it again, but I think you hit one very important point. The show capture doesn't happen at your house in real time. Everybody who posts here thinks you start capture on a complex fifteen minute show and walk out fifteen minutes later with one single sound file completely produced. Was...

Re: microphone not responding

Rich information is good.

"I'm using a [Model Number] [USB] microphone in my G5 [Deskside] machine running [Tiger OS-X 10.4]. It records in [QuickTime Pro] perfectly, but not in Audacity [Version Number]."

Fill in the holes or make corrections.

Re: Post Recording Echo

That's correct. Full headsets are wonderful, but completely compulsive. We regularly do crystal clear sessions with a supervisor in San Clemente speaking into her Mac MacBook Pro and wearing big fuzzy comfortable headphones. The Director of Engineering does it with iPod earbuds as do I. However, A f...

Re: How to navigate tracks - forward and back

Yes, it is awkward, isn't it? The video editors have been yelling about including "scrubbing" for a very long time. No joy yet.
