Re: Vinyl, Preamp, Computer (Soundcard) Issue"?

Or if you can borrow a Mac, that would do it, too. Most of them have excellent quality stereo Line-In. Deskside PCs can do Line-In as well, but those sound cards tend to be noisy.

Re: Vinyl, Preamp, Computer (Soundcard) Issue"?

Yes. Some computers allow switching from low level, mono, Mic-In to High Level, Stereo Line-In. Most don't. Even if you get around the overload problem (the preamp output will be some thousand times louder than the connection can handle) you will only get "Left" sound from the record. Mic-...

Re: Recorded track but won't play back or save file

I got a pretty good idea. When you delete something, Audacity doesn't really delete. It marks the work as unplayable and from that point forward, just goes around it. This allows for UNDO. So you think you're trying to save a three minute conversation, when in fact you're trying to save every captur...

Re: picture of Audacity logo

I think I would screen-capture the logo and post it until somebody stops me. Do you have a pixel size target for your picture? How big do you want the image? Do you have Photoshop?

<<<on my macbook>>>

Describe it. Memory? Processor? Apple > About This Computer. Read that.

Go > Computer > Control Click your system drive > Get Info > Read Capacity and Used.

Re: missing initial sounds

Stop doing that. The Big Kids always create generous leadins (three and four seconds) before valuable work to avoid capture pathway setup problems like that. Nobody ever complained about too much captured work, but as you're finding out, too little work is usually fatal to the show. When you press r...

OK. Deep breath. What are you trying to record and how is it connected to the computer?
