Re: clickiing noise I can't get rid of...
That works, or I use the pre-packaged Noise Removal Tool inside "Normalize." Don't let Normalize do anything else -- just Remove DC. If your computer or sound card is broken (I have one that is) you will need to do this DC removal to every captured track before you edit. You can't remove D...

Re: Can hardly type since installation of 1.2.6
Sudden Computer Insanity can be caused by filling up your hard drive.
From memory now, I think it's Start > My Computer > Right Click C: > Properties. You should never have more than 90% of the hard drive filled up and some computers start to slow down at 50%.

<<<"MPEG-1, Layer 3.">>> Also known as "MP3" yes. Every time you clarify this is gets foggier. First a note: Apple ACC does a better job of audio compression than the million year old MP3 technology. So if you're after the most number of high quality songs on your iPod, AAC is th...

Re: missing initial sounds
Darn good question. I don't know of anything inside Audacity that can do that. But as we are fond of saying, Audacity is a complete slave to the machine running it. Windows machines are business computers. Many of them naturally assume you're going to be making Skype calls back to the home office, s...

Re: Too much noise while recording on macbook
Bingo. Leopard/Intel machines do not support Audacity 1.2. Trash everything Audacity from /Applications folder and dig for the Preferences file. Go > Home > Library > Applications Support > Take out the whole Audacity folder. My favorite 1.3 version is 1.3.7. It seems to be stable for me over many d...

Re: Recorded track but won't play back or save file
Does the valuable work play? Can you borrow a Mac? Jack your Headphone Out to his/hers Line-In and re-record the work on the Mac. Quicktime Pro will do this ($25) or download the Mac Audacity. Sorry, this doesn't work with another laptop PC. It might work with a large Deskside PC. They have Line-In ...
