Did I miss the part of the movie where Audacity will run correctly on all three computing platforms?

We like the phrase "Music CD." That you get from iTunes. Plays in your car. Mail it to your mum. If you put a blank CD into a Mac (without iTunes) and OK the opening screen, you can drag all kinds of stuff over to it, not just music. That's a "Data CD." Basically a 120mm wide, si...

Re: Adjust volume over several recordings
Audacity has its own compression and limiting effects tools as do many other people. You can mess with them forever and try different settings and post suggestions and read other people's experiences and sacrifice small furry animals at great length, or you can just apply Chris. Chris's talent is to...

Re: Need beta testers (especially Mac users)
I'm getting that Doris Day / Rock Hudson Movie feeling where they're having one conversation about two completely different things and it doesn't get resolved until 90 minutes in. This is what it looks like when I launch the above mentioned Audacity and Preferences panel... http://www.kozco.com/tech...

Re: Output volume slider affects input level
<<<output from WMP to audacity>>> Windows Media never plays to Audacity. It plays into the sound system which sends it out to the sound card. Mix-Out captures the sound card output buffer and sends it back into the computer as a record service. That's why not all sound cards have it. Anything else y...

Re: Problem with importing MP3 after LAME
It changes a little with the Audacity version, but something like Edit > Preferences > Import/Export.

Re: clickiing noise I can't get rid of...
<<<it just equalizes the positive and negative peaks.>>> Fascinating. It shouldn't. I understand that DC Removal is a super version of the manual graphic equalizer filter. That is, it will not pass any frequencies below about a quarter or half cycle per second. Some really tiny number. I guess if yo...

Re: Adjust volume over several recordings
Both Amplify and Normalize change the whole show once such that the highest peak anywhere in the show is at a set level. Amplify does the same thing to both left and right and Normalize changes each side independently. You could try Chris's Compressor... Chris's Compressor http://pdf23ds.net/softwar...

Re: How to edit mp3 tracks from my itunes library
<<<My other take is that the use of Audacity to edit the tracks that I already have as mp3's -- i.e., my entire digital music collection -- shouldn't impact the quality.>>> Yes, it should. The second you finish your edit and Export As MP3, you're going to go through the whole MP3 compression and dam...

Re: Output volume slider affects input level
<<<I am assuming that if this was a an audio routing issue, then changing the audio input/output would have an effect, which it does not.>>> You are almost certainly recording MIX-OUT or What-U-Hear as that's the only way you could get Audacity to record Windows Media. When you do that, both the pla...
