Audacity projects do not have a "file format" because Audacity will not save sound files. To generate a sound file from your Project you have to Export one. Export As WAV.

Re: Higher-frequency analysis
21Hz to 32KHz? Some of that is restricted by the file format. If you do all your work in 44100 sample rate, the frequency response doesn't go much above 20KHz and it can be argued doesn't accurately go much over 17KHz. You'd need, what, 64000 sample rate and the nearest normal one is 96000? Then you...

Re: Lame not working, no Save as Mp3 option
<<<I've recorded these great tracks and will possibly not be able to open them on newer version.>>> I would be exporting them as WAV until we figure this out. WAV is a good home base if you have room. Perfect quality sound files that you can back up and make safety copies of. You can go downhill fro...

You'd probably be much further along asking that of one of the Windows Elves. I can do generic Windows problems, but if you get too detailed, I'm as lost as you are.

Re: Adjust volume over several recordings
Oh, I think it's a lot worse than you think it is. Audacity does everything internally uncompressed. With the UNDO storage I figure your 6 hour show needs about 10 GB of blank hard drive plus the 10% free that you need to keep the computer from going insane. Let's say an 80GB system drive that would...

<<<I know what "compiling" is>>>
So do I. I'm joshing. I used a compiler once back in the Eisenhower administration. You used to be able to get debug to do that right?
Where's Leland?

Re: clickiing noise I can't get rid of...
Thinking about this for a minute, a formal filter would need to duplicate the first second of the work, apply the filter, and then remove the duplication. That gets around the First Second damage. That would, in fact deliver repaired work indistinguishable from actually capturing work with a system ...

Ripple?
Oh, Chebyshev, right?
OK. I'll be doing that for a while. I wonder if we can talk someone into making a formal filter. It's harder to recommend than the pre-formed one in Normalize.

Re: Macbook windows related question?
Apple > System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts Try Restore Defaults. Or at the bottom of that list is the Screen Brightness controls. I don't need the Fn key. My screen brightness goes up and down with straight F1 and F2. You may have had a special setting and the default is no...
