Re: Omnidirectional Mic and voice dropoffs
This is the symptom of a computer trying to "auto level set" your show because it thinks you're making a Skype telephone call and not a theatrical production. Many times that's something you can turn off in Windows sound managers or Control Panel. I know we answered this before and I'm sea...

Re: Normalize, Level, Noise Removal - what order?
Some of these tools don't work so well in mono. You might consider producing the whole show in stereo and then Tracks > Stereo Track To Mono just before you Export your final WAV. And I would Export As WAV. Don't just Save Project. You can convert a high quality WAV to anything else. If your show ma...

Re: Normalize, Level, Noise Removal - what order?
<<<Normalize or Leveller? I think that it's normalize for a single track, but I'd use Leveller if I had two tracks? Not sure.>>> Neither one. Leveler is to produce special effects like Air Traffic Controller. Normalize and Amplify bring the whole show up or down so the loudest part reaches a certain...

Re: Removing Woosh, Pound Air sound
You can't just rename MP4 to MP3. Or most people can't. Wind noise is rough to get rid of. You can adjust the graphic equalizer like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/100Hz_Rumble.jpg Detail... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/RumbleDetail.jpg Or you can try using the Hi Pass Filter which may be ...

Re: Error saving project , is not writeable, or the disk is
<<<I just assumed saving projects was the default way to start off.>>> It is the default. And it drives us nuts. There are several Audacity defaults that naturally assume you've been working in sound for 25 years and you're recutting your 16 track symphony in the highest possible quality. Most peopl...

Re: audacity 1.3
Can you reach View > Toolbars? That's a laundry list of what you see and what you don't. Did we establish you're on a Windows machine? Audacity keeps settings and preferences separate from the program. So to "re-install" Audacity, throw the preferences file in the trash and next startup, y...

Re: From Audacity to Pro Tools
Export As WAV. Microsoft WAV format is pretty universal. It plays well on all three computer platforms. But. The default Audacity bit depth is 32-floating, not 16. There are systems out there that have no idea what to do with 32-floating even thought you did everything else right. You can change the...

Re: USB Microphone not working
Many USB microphones start working when you reset Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Mono. Edit > Preferences. You may need to restart Audacity for the changes to work. You won't necessarily be able to hear your self right away, that's additional settings. Do you get the red record meters bounci...
