Re: inability to export to iTunes and burn cd
The newer Intel/Leopard Macs do not support Audacity 1.2. I personally like Audacity 1.3.7 from here... Audacity 1.3.7 -- Mac http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-macosx-ub-1.3.7.zip ...or you can go with the latest download... Audacity Current Release -- Mac http://audacityteam.org/downloa...

Re: Recording Tracks
Record-Pause instead of Stop. Try this once to make sure you know the button sequences. -- or -- Install Audacity 1.3. 1.3 has provision for Add-On Recording. Transport > Append Record, or Shift-R. You can have both Audacity versions on your computer as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1...

Re: Normalize, Level, Noise Removal - what order?
I whipped over Noise Reduction quickly. Do you have the 30,000 foot view of what it does? Pick a portion of the performance (profile) and the software tries to remove that segment from the rest of the show. Everything else is steering tools, and the tools are, in my opinion, only useful in Audacity ...

Re: Possible to make drums louder?
<<<And I want to make the drums louder. Is that possible, like, somehow? Like, you can make the bass louder in a song with the "bass boost" effect, but well, that is something else. There isn't a fancy thing you can do? :)>>> Bass Boost makes all the sounds in the low register louder. If t...

Re: MP3 export problem
I don't know that your old lame and the new one are the same. Trash the lame and pull a new one down and install that. I know they made a lame change a while ago to resolve some issues and you may have straddled that changeover.

Re: CHANGING VIEW WHEN GENERATING SILENCE
<<<It pasted in, but the view changed to a zoomed-in view.>>> If you inserted a very large clip, it just stayed where it was, seeming to zoom in, but not really. You can easily zoom in, out, and stages in between with Control-F (zoom full), Control-E (zoom to selection) and Control 1, 2, 3. I think ...

Re: MP3 export problem
It showed you the location, but did you click on the library file? Which version of Audacity did you end up with? I can see if you got the right lame software.

Re: Normalize, Level, Noise Removal - what order?
You posted in the 1.3 forum, so I hope you're actually using 1.3. Hum we can do. I think I would clean everything up and noise reduce before you started cutting. The noise reduction in 1.3 is the useful tool compared to 1.2. The better the "profile" you capture at the beginning of the tool...

Re: Omnidirectional Mic and voice dropoffs
OK, maybe we didn't answer it before. Here's a posting about how to turn it off in Skype...

Sometimes the drivers for the sound card will do this, too.
