Do you sound OK when you listen with headphones plugged into the mixer? Do your mixer flashing volume lights light up to at least "0"?

Re: Sound fades in automatically at each chapter start. Help!
You're working way too hard. The published audiobook mastering suite has three tools in it. Rumble Filter, RMS (loudness) Normalize, and Peak Limiter.

I think most of your corrections are fighting the computer.

Re: Mp3 Files Very Low Volume
This is a short (39 second) stereo sound test I made a while ago. It's in four segments. Left, Right, Mono, and intentionally damaged (out of phase). https://www.kozco.com/tech/LRMonoPhase4.mp3 On a normal stereo system, you can hear them all in good volume, but the last one may sound a little stran...

Re: Mixing & Mastering
I'm frightened to death of ruining it Make a safety backup of your unedited show. Don't touch it except to copy it into Audacity for changes or effects. File > Save a Project > Save a Lossless Project . When it gets done, copy that AUP file and _DATA folder to a thumb drive or other backup. When yo...

Re: Can I get a quick tutorial on making presentable speech?
We can't take effects out of a performance, so it's a little rough to tell you how to fix it. Burn a test reading according to this formula. You don't have to use the Hudson Valley Cows if you don't want to. Use your own script. It doesn't have to come out even. Cut the total off at ten seconds and ...

Re: Recording Zoom call
See here for how to record Zoom meetings: Post back how that goes. We had a poster who tried similar services and the voice quality was pretty miserable. Since you already have the mixer, I did a good quality recording with two computers, and one of them didn't have to be a computer. https://www.ko...

Re: USB microphones
Audacity will only record from one device, and you plugged in two different devices.
Audacity doen't support ASIO or any of the ASIO variations.
You might be able to mess with the computer sound pathways with a program such as Voicemeeter.

Re: Missing audio data block files
This is a Project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The AUP file is a text file with the instructions for Audacity to put all the files in the _DATA folder together into your show. You should be able to double click the AUP file and the show will open. The AUP file...
