Re: Audacity mangles filenames on export (BUG?)
<<<I'm on an Intel MacBook running 10.5.8 and seeing this behavior.>>> With an Audacity that's not supported on your Mac? The jump to Intel/OS-X 10.5+ caused Audacity 1.2 to do a great many bad things -- to the point that it's no longer useful in addition to being old and no longer developed. If you...

Re: direct live recording. How to correct the low volume?
Closer. What comes before the digital mixer? I'm trying to get you to tell me about the woman playing the guitar or singing, or both in front of a microphone. Most people consider "Live Recording" to be capturing a show from the internet. Real Live Recording techniques are Very Different f...

Re: Audacity mangles filenames on export (BUG?)
Intel/Tiger takes Audacity 1.2.5 and PowerPC/Tiger takes Audacity 1.2.6. Until a short time ago, I was running both successfully. Intel/Leopard or Intel/Snow Leopard can create multiple unstable conditions with Audacity 1.2 versions. "#" is a Special Character in many lists and may create ...

Re: Problems with resampling WAVs
Audacity will export your work in whatever sample rate is listed in the little block in the lower left of the work window. You understand 44100 is the Music CD standard sample rate and it's just barely enough. Anything lower than that and the sparkly, crisp quality of the work will suffer. You can d...

Re: Audacity mangles filenames on export (BUG?)
Two items. You used a forbidden character in the filename. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and dash. That's it. No other characters. Especially nuclear and evil is the slashmark. I need to share files with machines in our company all over the world, so I don't use spaces, either. C...

Re: Compatibility with foot pedals for music transcription
I don't know of any way to get the footswitch to work, but we did a thing a while back about the keyboard shortcuts.

That's just downsampling. Then if you recompress into MP3 at 11K, you get the compression artifacts, too...

Edit > Preferences > Keyboard (or where ever it is in 1.2) and see if it's available for assigning to a shortcut key. I didn't see it in 1.3 and that usually means it isn't available in earlier versions, either, but look around.

Re: Audacity freezes during Export to Nero AAC
Can you Export As WAV or Export As MP3? It appears Audacity is preparing the work for export (the core numbers are too high) and failing when it runs out of hardware memory. The sound never gets to the external coder. What happens if you try it manually. Start with the exported WAV file (close Audac...
