Re: Saving Projects nows means beachball of death for me

What happened to the good old days when we told people to trash the cfg file and start over? I'm betting if mom's in a lot of trouble and need this puppy running right now, the last thing she wants is instructions to manually edit the computer's program.

Re: DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!

You can get that if the computer isn't fast enough. Audio (and video) happens in real time and the computer doesn't have any chances to stop and take a breath. But many times you can help out a lot.

Are you on a Windows machine?

Re: Recording keeps getting quieter

This is perfectly typical behavior of Skype computers. They do that to automatically volume set during a phone call and try to avoid echos. Most of the time you can turn it off, but you'll have to mess around inside Windows Setups to do it. That's pretty much the total extent of my info on that. You...

Re: Opening large MP3 file

Audacity is not an MP3 editor. Audacity uncompresses files inside itself to work on them and then recompresses them later for delivery. On a wild guess, Audacity is trying to create a 4GB to 7GB show inside the computer. Is there room for that? The first time you have to do effects and processing, t...

Re: Saving Projects nows means beachball of death for me

<<<so does mean it's hardware or software?>>> Yes. I use 1.3.7 for everything... Audacity 1.3.7 -- Mac http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-macosx-ub-1.3.7.zip 1.3.9 may be a little advanced and 1.3.3 is a little too early for some of the better tools. 1.2.6 should have worked on the iBook ...

And then you plug one of these into that and extend over to your computer. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102949 <<<Iam using a pc not...

Re: I want to only hear the background vocals/noises....

It's almost universally true that you can't take apart a finished performance. If it's a mono and not stereo performance, then it's 100% true you're out of luck. If you have a very gently compressed or not compressed at all stereo performance, then you might be able to use one of these tools to dele...

Re: Saving Projects nows means beachball of death for me

Let's see. The MacBook is an Intel machine and should be running 1.2.5. 1.2.6 is unstable on Intel machines. If you upgrade to either Leopard, all 1.2 versions will become unstable and you will need to run one of the Audacity 1.3 versions. <<<Everytime I save my project to my 10.3.9 ibook >>> Which ...

You shouldn't be doing that in Audacity. You should be doing that in Windows Control Panels.
