Re: Recording iTunes from Mac sounds terrible + audio mixing

The four horsemen are: Skype, Multiple Microphones, Live Production, and an underpowered laptop. These all seem to end up in the same request and they're deadly. There are two distinct levels of Skype capture. Many software packages can capture both sides and smash them into one stereo file, but onl...

Re: Recording iTunes from Mac sounds terrible + audio mixing

<<<I've been playing around to make this work for me, too. >>> Except he's not doing anything like the complex podcast you're trying to do. You had a good shot at it until you involved Skype. Skype viciously resets the sound pathways in your machine to do what it wants and to heck with anything else...

Re: long vertical line

And then, even pickier, this should have been posted in "Add Features to Audacity."

Re: Opening large MP3 file

Apple QuickTime is a free download. See if the file opens up in that. If it does, you can purchase Quicktime Pro and that should allow you to edit your file.

$30 USD.

Re: Opening large MP3 file

<<<I can open it up in Windows Media Player>>>

That's not what I asked you. Make Windows tell you what the format of the file is in English words. Windows Media will play anything but not everything will open in Audacity. You may simply not have an MP3 file.

Re: Editing and Audio dropouts

Missed a step. Music CD sound format is 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Hard to beat that.

Re: Editing and Audio dropouts

Even though I've been singularly unhelpful so far. The files all sound perfect while they're in Audacity, right? What is the WAV format you're using? Audacity 1.2 defaults to Mono, 32-floating, 44100 and not everybody directly supports that. It's possible to make MP3 music files with that which will...

Re: Recovery After a file rename

<<<If you know other ways to keep my projects small-sized, please let me know.>>> You might reconsider that. Production should always be done in the highest possible quality because sound degenerates very quickly during effects and editing. After you get the perfect, clear, correct (large) "cli...

Re: Recovery After a file rename

--- I removed the duplicate posting. --- You can record internet audio on a Mac a number of ways. The most drop-dead simple way is a audio patch cable between Audio In and Audio Out. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102970 Change the Mac preferences to allow recording from Buil...

Re: Sounds of Silence

<<<by reacquainting the program with the source files?>>> Yes, but that's a programming task. Much easier to move the music back to where it was. Get a strong cup of coffee and open up your AUP file in TextEdit. That works because the AUP file is XML semi-English programming. It is not, as many peop...
