Re: Installing Audacity crashes XP Pro.
Do you use any other memory hungry programs? Audacity and many other live production programs use up all the memory you have and would like more if you could afford it. Many people go for years not knowing that the last memory stick near the top is bad until a program tries to use it. Doesn't have t...

Re: Unable to import audio from iTunes
<<<Hope this is helpful. Mac>>> It's perfectly helpful, but not if you want to edit the work in Audacity. MP3 and AAC formats both damage the sound when you use them. Audacity does it twice, once going in and then once again on the way out. Much better WAV. The quality of the work freezes until you'...

Re: 741 orphaned blockfiles, 616 missing audio data blockfil
I don't expect this to work for a second, but I have had different results when I launched Audacity and File > Open; and Control-Click the AUP file and > Open With.

All is not lost, you have the AIFF files, right? That's why you Exported them, in the all too likely event that the Project is going to turn into a pile of peanut butter. So open them up and keep going. The Audacity recovery tools are designed to "know" what to do in the face of the oddbal...

Analyze Spectrum Jumps
I'm in Old, Obsolete, Ancient 1.3.7. MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core Duo, OS-X 10.5.8. I made a recording of a voice actor and it had a strange whistle in the background. I think there may be something wrong with my field mixer. I launched Analyze Spectrum and sure enough, there was a spike where th...

Re: Scratched vinyl
You're playing a damaged 45 on the worst turntable ever made.
Do you know anybody who still has a top quality turntable with a good stylus?
In a word, no.

Re: Playthrough during recording: issues
Same thing with a MacBook Pro. There is no Hardware Playthrough and Software Playthrough has a delay -- not tragically so in my case. I've cranked through a hour-long live recording session successfully that way. I just put up with the delay and I did find the mixer doing something messy to the show...

Re: AU file corrupt
You might consider doing an error check and defragment on your computer. If there's that much damage, it may affect other productions. RightClick Start > Explore > RightClick C: > Properties > Tools > Error Check and Defragment. Do the error check first. If that fails, don't do anything else and get...

Re: AU file corrupt
Probably not. When Audacity crashes, and depending on why it crashed, it becomes unstable and may destroy some of the original work or make it unreadable.
Until the crash recovery tools were written, all crashed shows were history.

Re: Head clipped on audio import
<<<they also open in WMP, Realplayer, Quicktime as well as the VLP player.>>> Those players will open and play floor sweepings. That doesn't count. Audacity won't do that. So you have very foreign and confusing sound files and nobody's shocked that Audacity won't deal with them properly. Do you have...
