You didn't say that before. That's a different set of tools, but I need to be away from the computers for a while.

That's OK. I just wondered if that was a Los Angeles phenomena, or it really did that.
What are the current problems in 1.3.10? Which build are you using?

Re: High Pass Filter....Oops
It does the same thing in Mac/Intel/Leopard/1.3.7. I Won't be able to try it on other machines for a while.

High Pass Filter....Oops
I may need somebody else with a Mac to try this. One of the least damaging ways to eliminate DC level is apply a High Pass Filter 24dB/10Hz. Except in Audacity 1.3.7 you can't do that. The system will not allow me to type "10" in the frequency box. It defaults to "1". It's sneaky...

Re: Audacity 1.3.9 crashes with effects>voice remove
I was wondering how you were going to make out with that. Voices are not frequency specific. Very few things are. This is the spectrum of one (1) piano note. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/piano_G1.jpg So you can't do it that way, and most people opt for the Vocal Removal Tools which everybody offer...

Re: How to compute SPL from sound inputed from a microphone.
<<<That's about as close as you will get.>>> Real SPL meters also have curves. Workplace rules for dangerous noises are written in "A" curve which gives less importance to very high and very low pitch sounds. The "C" curve isn't a curve at all, but gives equal importance to all p...

Re: noise removal question
<<<I convert from the internet>>> It may not be "noise." Many songs are compressed a lot before they're posted in order to take up the least room and download rapidly. It can give some odd noises. This is an extreme example of what MP3 can do if you go too far. This effect is permanent. Yo...

Re: Import Tracks/ Clear HD Sounding
I don't think anywhere in that you told us which Audacity you're using. It can make a big difference because the preferences and setups are very different.
Audacity 1.2 wakes up from First Birthday in Mono, not Stereo. Reset in Audacity Preferences and restart Audacity.

Re: What Happened To The "Other" Audacity?
I think 1.3.2 or 1.3.3 did that. It caused an immediate uproar (in a bad way) because of the way Audacity manages filters and effects. Many effects can't tune or adjust themselves in real time. What this means is you need to apply them over and over again with slightly different values to get the de...
