Re: DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!
The built-in microphone is frequently used for video and audio conferencing and Skype phone calls. You bought a business computer. It's usually OK for those jobs and we can assume it's stable if not spectacular while it's working. That's why we should probably clear any damage or bad operation befor...
Re: LP to HD
Since playing a vinyl record damages it slightly, I personally would be experimenting on a trash vinyl record until you get all the steps and tools down cold. Then play the real thing. Since this is a very important sound transfer and not your collection of old records from the garage, I would Expor...

Re: I'm doing all the right things . . .
<<<but not able to get the playback function (the green button) to work, after making a line recording from my Minidisc RCA outputs>>> Excuse my blank look. The complaint is not being able to play an existing file in Audacity, but the description is an inability to record from an external sound devi...

Re: squeaking noises
Chances are the movie sound isn't going to open up in Audacity, but if it is, you should Open or Import, point to the file, and then OK the panel. That's it. If the show doesn't arrive, or arrives damaged, then you may need to convert the show into something Audacity will recognize If you Right-Clic...

Re: Batch Export aif?
Not if it isn't already listed. Batch (or Chains) is a sore point. It's a feature everybody wants and it's really hard to design. The current version is baby steps and I suspect custom code must be written for each included module, basically doubling the work without doubling the number of people wo...

<<<Every time I open a project in version 1.3.9 >>> How many projects do this? The posting makes it sound like you have 300 different projects and they all do it. If it's one, then the next time it opens, Export As WAV (if it lets you), open it up in a totally fresh Audacity and Save Project -- assu...

Re: squeaking noises
Describe the steps of getting the sound into Audacity. Are you playing the camera and capturing in real time? Are you trying to decode the video bitstream? Does the audio come out of the device already to edit? The show plays perfectly and clearly for a minute and then squeaks and then continues on?...

Re: HELP! Nothing is being recorded!
You need to get us a little closer. The advice changes a lot depending on the type of microphone you have and how it's connected.
Do you have a laptop computer? Who made the microphone and what's the model number? You can post the address of the web site from where you bought it.

Re: importing my songs from audacity 1.2.6 to 1.3.9
WAV music files and Audacity Projects will open up "upstream," that is, higher Audacity programs will open up shows from lower ones. If, however, you used FFMpeg or another plugin to create MP4 or other advanced format music, then you will need to install FFMpeg on the new Audacity to read...
