<<<I don't think it's actually a "real time" effect that siys is asking about.>>> Sure it is. Apply the stretch tool 30 or more times a second with the variable values taken from the live mouse position -- in real time. I wouldn't be shocked to find some of the video editors can do that. Koz

Re: Balancing Stereo channels
Make Stereo Tracks joins two existing mono tracks into one linked stereo track. Add New Track, and track management is much easier in Audacity 1.3. That and you're never going to get "stereo," different sound on left and right. The best you can do without manipulation is two-track mono. Wh...

Re: "Software Passthrough Latency" "Analog to USB?"
There is a plan C. Audacity 1.3 allows latency tuning. It unhooks the playback timing from the record timing -- essentially playing back the drum track early so you can hear it and record the total performance in the correct time.

Wouldn't mind an answer on that Skype question. Skype works by viciously grabbing sound pathways and sometimes it doesn't put them back when it's done.

MP3 causes sound damage, WAV doesn't.

WAV is a production and archive format, MP3 is a delivery format.

Re: stretching track
Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except record and play back, so no. This is a cousin to scrubbing, a frequently requested tool that Audacity won't do, either.

<<<You have my vote for adding aif export capability to chains.>>>
I know the temptation is to gaze only at your problem, but can we add you to the list of people who want full Batch Processing Support instead of shards and fragments here and there?

Re: Joining two clips seamlessly
This is a common "magic" problem in computer sound systems. Digital sound systems will manage signals that are not sound. One of those signals is DC or battery voltage. If both of your songs shut up for a second, you may find that the thin blue waveforms of the two don't settle at the same...
