I can't quite straighten out the question, due, no doubt, that I don't play Guitar Hero (either one), but I can tell you you can't split up a finished, mixed, produced song into instruments.

Re: Reverb
Freeverb and GVerb seem to be pretty popular.
GVerb seems to come with 1.3.7. I can't tell if that's a platform specific thing.

Re: Recording/Playback at a Specific dB level
Old fashioned VU meters were a lot better at this than digital peak meters. That's why VU meters hung around in hearing tests and research for years. They would tell you approximate loudness. Anyway, once your "show" is on the timelilne, Effect > Amplify and you can pick any gain or loss y...

So you're covered. It's just a matter of adjusting levels and getting the computer routing to work out.

Re: Headphone question
The split at the Line6 is what may kill you. You're not just combining two headphone feeds, one of those feeds is a split of the show music. Past that, I would probably try it and see. Radio Shack makes two and three-way headphone splitters... http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=22...

Re: Recording/Playback at a Specific dB level
<<<record a section of audio at a constant volume >>> Live audio? Can you buy the performers a cup of coffee and can they drink it? That first step pretty much lets Audacity out. Audacity will not apply filters in real time, so if the performers get louder, Audacity will get louder. Carefully contro...

Re: Anyone know how to edit an M4R file?
QuickTime Pro allows you to open up anything QuickTime or iTunes supports, do simple cuts editing and then export as a new Something Else -- another AAC if you want.

Re: recording cassette tapes to your computer with audicity
The web page doesn't go into the common problems people have doing this. Are you on a Windows Laptop? Then you may be out of luck. Most Windows laptops have a delicate, sensitive, mono microphone input. The cassette machine music is powerful, high level, stereo. So right away, either left or right m...

Re: Can the telephone incoming volume be raised?
There is a dramatic jump in cost when you buy telephone equipment that can split up the conversation like in a call-in talk show. Those machines cost multiple hundreds of dollars. However, if you use Skype or one of the on-line phone services, there are software packages that can record you on the l...

Re: choppy voice when recording
The quality of the microphone may give you bad quality sound (harsh or maybe muffled). Or maybe a little noise when you stop talking. "Hello sssssssss How are you sssss?" Gross drop outs and chattering or bubbling is a computer or data problem. We just get to figure out where. Singing to y...
