Re: Playback visual error
Oops. Sorry. Wrong platform. I do remember I had that on one of my machines and I don't remember which one to go back and see what the problem was. I gotta think about that for a second. You might be stuck with the jumping cursor. I remember having to edit and see what I got and then re-edit because...

Re: No playback from Recording??? Help???
There is a setting in Audacity Preferences called "play tracks while recording new ones" or something like that.

Re: Audacity: problems with trimming file
In Audacity 1.2, you have to have something selected before a lot of the tools wake up.

Re: Playback visual error
<<<Our machine should be fast enough to run the program with no problems.>>> Because it is a what with how much memory; how large a hard drive and how full is it? Do you defragment and error check? Jumping cursor is classic computer can't do it all at once. You can have a perfectly huge computer and...

Re: saving music files
First, make sure you stopped recording. Lots of windows are gray or missing if you only record pause instead of full stop. Then, make sure you're not in the metadata edit window instead of the export window. If it's asking you for song names, just OK the panel and continue with the export. Did I hit...
Re: recording
You can also drag a track out of iTunes to your desktop and use it in production if you want. This doesn't work if you purchased your music in the iTunes store.
A classic way out of this is burn the song to a Music CD and then mount and rip the CD.

Re: recording
No. Audacity doesn't do anything in MP3 format because of the damage it causes. You can capture and edit in Audacity in high quality WAV format and then Export to MP3 later if you want.

Re: No Playback of tracks while recording despite "Play othe
The first poster had that checked and it still didn't work. If I was on a Windows machine, I would probably check that Windows was sending the playback sound to where you think. A common problem with, say USB sound devices, is that Windows assumes it needs to send sound out the same port that it's r...

Mac 24-bit Curse??
At one time we cured a lot of Mac ills by steering people away from 24-bit Audacity.
Anybody cheerfully cutting 24-bit WAV files on Mac Audacity? Without issue? I may be invited to manage 24-bit capture files and the idea has me concerned.

Re: Audio Drops at the track start
Let me predict the past. You're working on an Intel Mac under Leopard OS-X 10.5 or 10.6?
Apple > About This Mac. Read Processor and Version.
If so, you're on the wrong Audacity. Newer Macs don't support Audacity 1.2.
Let me know.
