Re: Problem with recreated project and .au files
Those English words change a lot depending on which version of Audacity you have. You know you're doing the right thing because the machine will go into file management mode and the hard drive light will come on for a while as Audacity copies music inside itself. That step is missing if you leave th...

Re: Audacity will record iTunes, but nothing else
It's still a mystery how you're doing that. Do you have any of the capture software packages; SoundFlower, WireTap, or Hijack? If not, the only way to get any show playing on the computer into Audacity (aside from the hard-wired cable) is to play the music on the computer speakers and record it on t...

Re: Problem with recreated project and .au files
Audacity has a preference setting called something like: "Copy all music (Slower)" maybe (Safer). Audacity defaults to leaving all the music right where it is and reference it at the right time (Faster). The blue waves come from graphics files and can easily get out of step with the show i...

Re: Lame not working, no Save as Mp3 option
<<<Audacity 1.2.10 Oct 17 2009 Lame installed.>>> Since there isn't a 1.2.10, can you go look again at which Audacity you have? Intel/Leopard or Snow Leopard does not support any of the 1.2 versions. I use 1.3.7 from here... Audacity 1.3.7 -- Mac http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-macosx-...

Re: mp3 export issue
Can you drop back to one of the earlier Audacity versions? I use 1.3.7 and several posters have dropped back to earlier versions when they had troubles with 1.3.9. There is a 1.3.10, but it's considered a alpha nightly build and I don't know if I would be excited about doing serious production on it...

Re: Retro bass drum compression
THE AM Radio people would die if they heard you say that because they go to great effort to stop that from happening. Anyway, I suspect I could get something like that with the straight compressor effect in Audacity, maybe coupled with or in addition to "leveler." You have to be careful wi...

Re: Noob to trying to make a live performance tolerable
If that wasn't depressing enough, nobody in the audience has ever walked away from a live performance with usable show and that includes hundreds of camcorders. "My video sound is cracking and snapping at each one of the bass notes. How do I filter that out?" The grownups and news people h...

Re: Digital "analog" tape hiss?
I know you're waiting for someone to post that you should push the green button and all the problems will be over. I'm waiting for them, too. You can use Audacity as a diagnostic tool. Launch it and click once inside the red record meters. After a split second, they will wake up and meter the incomi...

Re: Digital "analog" tape hiss?
What's the chance that the noise is coming from the playback side? Take a noisy music file and play it on Something Else.
