Re: Very Basic Recording Question

Post one of the thumps. You can post up to 10 seconds of stereo. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 Dynamic (Moving Coil) microphones are the only ones with no real overload point. Home condenser microphones will cheerfully overload and cause terrific distortion in the fac...

Re: Flat line while trying to record on MacBook Pro

Catalina has been a problem. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?t=107162 That basic problem, plus there are no good, simple reliable ways to record Skype, Zoom, Meets, Conferences, Chat, or other similar apps. In most cases, the communications software needs to take over the computer sound...

Re: Can I get a quick tutorial on making presentable speech?

Doing a cartoony voice is a bit weird with headphones on since I can't hear what I sound like while I'm doing a take. You lost me. The goal of wearing the headphones is so you can hear yourself while you're doing a take. In this setup, the headphones are plugged into the microphone interface which ...

Re: How can I save a filter curve that I created to survive my re-installation of my PC with Win-10?

The desperation method, if it's a simple curve, is extend the display and do a screen capture. For example, this is the Low Rolloff filter for the Audiobook Mastering Suite. Re: Unable to open Audacity Project Files

The AUP files aren't sound files. They're instructions that tell Audacity how to construct your show from all the tiny files and folders in the _DATA folder. This is a complete Audacity Project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg You need both parts to open the show....

Re: Can I get a quick tutorial on making presentable speech?

Now that the microphone problems are out of the way, there is some bad news. There is no acting filter. There's no effect or filter to turn you into a broadcast, theater or movie actor. That's between you and your mouth. There are tools to correct pauses, word fluffs, tempo, distortions, and duplica...

Re: None of the judges turned their chairs

I can help a little with #3. Wear good quality, sealed-on-the-head headphones. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ChrisPrattEmmet.jpg That's Chris Pratt in the session where he voiced "Emmet" in the Lego Movie . Screen Shot 2020-05-06 at 5.41.42.png He's listening to his own voice and...
