If you change Audacity System Preferences like that, you will need to restart Audacity to make the new settings stick. This could be the cause of the program freezing. You can stack the explosions one above the other and use the Solo and Mute keys to the left of each track to select the appropriate one. Spacebar, of course, plays the track. Where did the music come from? Audacity will not know how to edit YouTube videos or their audio tracks.

The software may not like the Audacity default bit depth of 32-floating. Music CD default is 16-bit. You can change that in the Audacity Preferences. You can convert your existing WAV files...
