Re: Tracks don't line up properly
every time I follow the procedure exactly, I get different results. That means the recording latency of the machine is wandering. That usually means the machine is busy doing other stuff while you're trying to perform. Make sure all other apps are turned off and not just napping. You should not hav...

if there is 6 channels or so.. "or so..." You didn't shoot this? You volunteered to fix it for somebody else? There's two no-wins. Nobody is going to mix this down to a theatrical presentation with one click. The question sounds a lot like trying to rescue a surveillance recording. Audaci...

Re: Mic stand adjust
Designing your own microphone stand is usually a bad idea because if you do anything wrong, you can destroy your microphone. I have an On-Stage-Stands 9701. It will put a microphone any height from five inches to five feet. This is it being used as a desk microphone holder. https://www.kozco.com/tec...

R and SHIFT+R were reversed between Audacity versions. You could either use the new keys, or reverse the keys back there they were in Preferences > Keyboard.

That equalizer curve is kind of a big deal. You can recreate it manually from here. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=393867#p393867 These are the text points. LowRolloffForSpeech.txt And this is the XML file you could import into earlier equalizers LF_rolloff_for_speech 2.xml The curve...

Re: Trying to "Re-Start" an old project.
I was a technician. Barely 5WPM. I bet I had a bigger transmitter than you did. WJLA Channel 7. 174-180MHz 35KW. Two 30KW transmitters muxed together. I have a picture of that thing here somewhere. One other note. File > Export the work as perfect quality WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit . That's the same unc...

I can't open the Windows Media Audio file. Can you repost in MP3 or WAV. If you use WAV, you can't go over 10 seconds stereo.

Re: Trying to "Re-Start" an old project.
Do you have a test tape you can mess with without touching the historical ones? It may take us a couple of passes to straighten everything out. Can you make one? Step one might be making sure all the sound processing and tools in the Windows machine are turned off. Windows comes out of the shrink wr...

I've got a bucket of files to remaster Remaster? Have you got the original readings—before you did anything to them? We publish an Audiobook Mastering Suite of tools. Apply them all, in order, don't add any steps and don't leave anything out. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudiobookMasteri...

Re: Can I get a quick tutorial on making presentable speech?
That's a little cheating. I got that "elf" sound with Effect > Phaser , but most of it came from a plain, ordinary Effect > Change Speed . I'm guessing that wouldn't fly during production because it seriously messes with show duration. The background "fire" is a sound effect I ha...
