Re: I am an idiot
These are common problems. You have the Windows Control Panel set to record Mix-Out or What-U-Hear instead of Line-In. You want Mix-Out if you're trying to record songs from the internet or Windows Media, but it will drive you nuts (more nuts) if you're trying to perform live. This one isn't an Auda...

Re: discarding history
<<<Is it a bug that there was no error message or alert when it ran out of space?>>> Well, yes but it's a bug shared by most major operating systems. We warn people to keep at least 10% free space on their machine at all times -- usually on each drive. If the drive space goes to zero the machine wil...

Re: I click Export, I get Metadata.
You can just OK the metadata dialog. If you're really using Audacity 1.2, you need to change the type of exported file in Audacity Preferences. If you're in Audacity 1.3, you can pick the type of export (WAV, MP3) in the export step after the metadata dialog. By the way, you didn't Save an Audacity ...

Re: Loss of quakity exporting as MP3
MP3 always produces sound damage. It makes us crazy that everybody thinks they have to be in MP3 to do quality sound production.
No. You don't. It hurts far more than it helps.

Re: Mixing problems
Do you have your system connected to a WIndows Laptop? Did you plug into the Mic-In on the side? Most Windows machines have a delicate, low level, Microphone In on the side of the unit. It's mono. Only one channel. If you want to record powerful, high level, Stereo performances from your guitar or a...

<<<Audio Hijack installs Soundflower for you.>>> So. Ummmm. Why am I paying for Hijack if it's just going to install SoundFlower, which which I don't get along particularly well, anyway? The advantage of SoundFlower, aside from its price, is its simplicity. That was the advantage of WireTap before t...

Re: Recording is 2x louder than the actual source.
It's not an Audacity problem. If you leave "Mix-Out" and other things selected in Windows Control Panels at once, Audacity will record each show twice, one on top of the other. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel Koz
