Did you cut together a bunch of captures or sound clips? Are you sure this is one continuous recording beginning to end? Did you Save Project at the end of your edit?
Did you Export As WAV, too, by any chance?

Re: Low Sound from Mic
You're going to need to part with a bunch more information. Model numbers, makers, type of microphone. We can't peek over your shoulder to see what you're doing. We only found one headset microphone that works at all well and that was the labtec 342 -- analog connection. All the others tried to over...

You may need to force quit or Ctrl-Alt-Del and close the application.
Did you try to write dates in the filename? The slash mark is not good in filenames. Write dates 20091202.
Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and dash. That's the whole list of safe characters.

Re: Audacity not Recording
If you're getting the red recording meters flashing, then you are getting a recording. Whether or not it's appropriate is another question. The Meters measure dB and the blue waves on the timeline, unless you changed them, are in percent. It's completely possible to have bouncing red meters and have...

<<<I'll try 1.3.10 as well on all machines.>>>
That's building up to be the Universal Get Out Of Jail card. Support for modern machines is much better in that version.

Re: playback quality getting bad in 10 sec. (NEWBIEE)
<<<I doubt that the input level is the problem.>>> Maybe. The difference between a good sensitive Microphone In and powerful Line-In can be a thousand to one. It's not unusual for people to complain that their variable volume control is either overloading or off. No middle ground. They usually compl...

Remembering we can't look over your shoulder, what are you recording exactly and how is it connected?

Re: Opening files
If you do use iTunes, change the iTunes CD Import Preferences to WAV for the least sound damage. If you don't do that, iTunes will try to convert the CD to compressed Apple AAC format and that does damage the sound a little. Besides, Audacity has no idea how to deal with an AAC file. Only WAV or AIF...

<<<When changing the pitch of a track >>> What track? Success with the "Change" tools depends a lot on the quality of the original work. Many posters try to do extensive track surgery with highly compressed work they downloaded. Compressed music works by "hiding" compression dama...

Re: Unable to import?
It's not, but you did post in the Windows section of the tri-lingual forum. That throws us off every time. You still can't import an AAC/M4A file directly. By the way, if you're getting this music from iTunes and you bought it on-line, it has FairPlay copy protection on it on top of everything else....
