Re: FAST FORWARD AND REWIND
Audacity and most other sound editors will not scrub -- fast forward and reverse. The best you can do is poke at the blue waves in the timeline with your cursor and use the spacebar to stop and start Play. Drag-Select and use the magnification (Command-E) to get closer and closer to the desired plac...

Re: File's duration time longer than the recording time?
How long was the show when you performed it live? Open the files in Quicktime and run the play slider most the way to the right and press play. Re: Export - only .xml option
Don't go to save. Audacity will not save a sound file.
File > Export.
If it presents you with a metadata window, OK around it.

If one of the Audacity elves here happens to know that one, you win. Otherwise it's Windows Support or Google.

Audacity 1.2 doesn't work all that well with the modern computers. Windows Vista/7 and Snow Leopard pretty much killed it off.

Re: Can't find aliasfile
I hope you Exported As WAV and not Save. Audacity will not Save a sound file.
If you did Save As Project, then that opens up a whole can of worms. Did you try to move the show between machines?
