Re: ! File speeding/slowing down on its own.
<<<Obviously the origs are fine.>>> I bet they're not. Audacity has a bad habit of importing, opening, or playing music files that it doesn't completely understand. Audacity is a terrible converter, so even though it is suggested that you can mix and match many different wild sound file types, it ra...

Re: recording from dvr box question
Are you sure all your connectors are clean? Pull out the RCAs and put them back in a couple of times. Pull out the 1/8" stereo plug and rub it with a clean paper towel and a little vodka, rubbing alcohol or Windex. Dry it with another towel and firmly plug it back in...twice. Still a problem? D...

Re: Audacity not Recording
<<<the Multi-room output jacks were the ones that gave me a displayable recording. >>>
What does your system think "Multi-Room" means? Is this where you make the sound in your living room reverb like an opera house?

Re: Disc full or permissions error
We've been sending people with Sudden Unexplained Computer Insanity over to Audacity 1.3.10.
http://audacityteam.org/download/
You can install both on your machine as long as you only open one at a time. Audacity 1.3 projects will not open in 1.2.
Audacity 1.2 was current when Win98 was new.

Re: How do I record external instruments?
Step one is to get at least one USB sound card. If you're on a Windows laptop, chances are there's no place to plug in your guitar. Serious guitar work will overload the Mic-In of a laptop. Then there's the matter of hearing the click track while you also listen to your live performance mixed. For t...

Re: how do i make audacity 1.2.6 export mp3s in a higher bit
If you're after high quality for, for example, post production, you are urged not to use MP3 at all. MP3 always causes damage no matter what bit rate you use, and it adds up. Export As WAV. Audacity 1.2 changes the MP3 export bit rate in Preferences, not at the export step like Audacity 1.3. If you ...

<<<On my old machine, I selected "stereo mix,">>> And the new machine doesn't support "Stereo Mix." Stereo Mix and What-U-Hear are not guarantees. If your computer doesn't support them, then they're not there. Macs come out of the box not supporting this, either, so there are a n...

None of this is Audacity's problem. Audacity is a complete slave to the computer running it.

Re: recording from external sources
Many Lenovo ThinkPads have a very nice line-In (blue) in addition to the pink Mic-In. You should be able to find one of those to record your analog shows depending on what they are and where they started from. If you only have Mic-In (pink or not), then you will not be able to record stereo performa...
