Re: File's duration time longer than the recording time?

You may be fighting the Audacity default bit depth of 32-bit floating. That causes problems here and there. Change in Audacity Preferences. The most trouble-free settings are 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Restart Audacity for the settings to stick. All your exports from then on should be missing the "...

And one note on iTunes. There are two primary iTunes compressors, AAC High Quality, and iTunes Plus (higher). I use iTunes Plus because the files are still small and I've never found any sound damage. I create hour-long versions of very clear, mono radio shows and they come in at about 60MB.

This is where you tell us what you're doing. You didn't hit that yet.

"I'm putting a record on my [__________] Turntable, etc."

Pretend I'm trying to buy and build your system. Model numbers are good.

<<<I guess it's the best solution.>>> It's one solution. After about the 100th album, you begin to wonder if you shouldn't download the music from iTunes in the first place. Unless you have seriously odd taste in music, many of the original albums are posted. With that much of a collection, please t...

Re: Low Sound from Mic

If you got any sort of a reasonable level at all, you can use Effect > Amplify to boost it up to wherever you want. USB microphones have to record low because they have no good way to control the volume of the performance. Slightly low can be cured very well in post production. Overload and clipping...

Re: I'm importing a song, but the AIFF file is HUGE!

If you converted the song from something seriously compressed like Apple AAC, the conversion to Stereo Uncompressed will make your nose bleed. Let's see 700MB per hour on average. You basically don't. The advantage of the uncompressed formats is that they don't fall apart when you do production on t...
