Re: Audacity won't record!

First step: Audacity 1.2 is not supported on newer Macs. That, plus Intel Macs took (at one time) Audacity 1.2.5, not 1.2.6. So, you should be on one of the Audacity 1.3 versions. The newest version is 1.3.10 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ Audacity 1.3.10 is still under hot, active d...

Re: Exporting OGG on a Restrictive Network

You can also get that error if you put evil characters in your filename, like dates. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash, and underscore. No other characters. Many "insane computer" problems surrender to Audacity 1.3.10. You can put 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine as long as you only u...

Re: No sound during recording

<<<is there a setting in Audacity itself which will send the sound to the PC speakers during recording?>>>

Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > Hardware Playthrough. If that doesn't work, try Software Playthrough. Software Playthrough is late, but more likely to work.

Re: File/Project Naming & other newbie comments

If you're regularly encountering show-stoppers like that, you might want to keep 1.3.7 in your back pocket. Audacity 1.3.7 -- Mac http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-macosx-ub-1.3.7.zip That was the version just before the structural changes that produced the plug-in crashes and other mana...

Here's another piece from the forum.

They point out a software package you might be able to get to work.

Re: Stereo Mix not Showing up Under Recording Devices--Windo

"Mix-Out" is a joint dance between the physical hardware, the operating system and the driver software. If anybody in the chain decides the functionality is going to vanish, it vanishes. This is a nasty surprise for many people. "It worked in Windows XP. How come I can't..." What...

Re: multi track with Focusrite Safire PRO 10i/o?

There is a Secret Aural Teaching about someone who managed to get Audacity to multi-track record. If you manage to do it, that will make...... two. You set Audacity to the right number of sound channels in Preferences? If you do press record, do you get all six or eight channels, or does it cut you ...
