Re: Hearing only left channel whilst recording

Audacity on first birthday used to wake up in mono, but I think the 1.3 versions are in Stereo. Check in Audacity Preferences. Can we assume you're on a Windows Laptop? The great majority of Windows Laptops have a Mic-In on the side of the computer which is looking for a tiny, delicate, weak, mono m...

Re: Stereo Mix not Showing up Under Recording Devices--Windo

<<<How do I check the manufacturer of my motherboard so I know where to look for better drivers?>>> You can usually Google the maker of the computer. Many computers now use "Fast Boot" option which bypasses all the hardware setup and memory tests when you turn the computer on. That's a sha...

Re: Audacity won't record!

<<<Strange. I don't remember installing it.>>> That's a valuable part of the question. I wasn't accusing you of molesting your machine. If you didn't install it, it may have arrived as part of another package. Are you the only human that has access to your machine? We have a "public" machi...

Re: Break up audiobook into sentences, have each repeat N ti

Yes, but in a text document, if you keep pressing Paste, you get the text repeating multiple times, one right after the other. In Audacity, it just pastes one on top of the other. So you can't Copy, Paste, Paste, Paste. You have to manage those sticky labels, and I haven't found how to inject a labe...

Quality Numbers

I started my Intel Mini into Snow Leopard and pulled down the latest 1.3.11. It's so new (how new is it?) It's so new it's dated tomorrow. I destroyed the Preferences file and the install asked me "English?" when I started. No plugins. I left the default 44100, 32-floating, Stereo setup an...

Re: Audacity won't record!

I begin to see the problem. MacVide Audio Connector is a software download that's supposed to let you establish audio pathways and compression services normal machines do not have. Sometimes it doesn't work so good. http://www.macvide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26 Did you put this software on your ma...

Re: Popping NOT due to clipping

Did you restart Audacity at each change? Sometimes system settings don't stick until you do that.

Maybe it's not a record problem. Can you play music in audacity you didn't try to capture?

Can you play that...

Re: WMA Import - possible or not?

<<<why doesnt it recognise ffmpeg?>>>

Maybe it does. Load a short sound clip and try to export it as AAC (ffmpeg). If the export fails, you have no ffmpeg. If it succeeds, then you got something else wrong.
