Re: Stick UNDO to each track?
<<<The problem I see with that is you can't listen to the whole mix and judge how an effect on one track works when played back against all the other tracks.>>> Sure I can. That's what the Master Audacity does. It has pasted tracks from all the other "clip" Audacities and it's purpose is t...

Re: Stick UNDO to each track?
Probably. I could also edit each segment or track in its own instance of Audacity and then copy and paste each one into a Master Audacity to listen to it. That will preserve all the original edits, segments, divisions, labels and effects and allow me to save each segment as its own Project as well a...

Re: converting from mono to stereo.
In Audacity 1.3, Track > Add New Mono track. Select the original track by clicking on the work panel to the left. Copy. Select the new track > Paste. Back to the top track. There are menu items under the little black arrow to the track left. Make Stereo Track. Now you have a two track mono show -- s...

Re: Stuck in Mono
<<<Should I scrap and dl another version?>>> No. Let's get this working. I don't think it's an Audacity problem. <<<actually my soundcard is quite popular among pcdjs.>>> I believe you. However, if you're on a Windows laptop, it's required. On a Mac, it's entirely optional. Plugging the sound mixer ...

Stick UNDO to each track?
I'm doing my first multiple-track, effects-of-death production and I bumped into something I don't know how to get around. I know how to select one track and apply an effect to a segment of the track to suit. Then go on to other tracks carefully balancing, cutting, applying effects and listening on ...

Re: accidentally saved my files in a data folder
<<<i saved it in the folder thats marked winterconcert_data>>> Audacity doesn't save sound files. To get a sound file you have to export one... File > Export As WAV. If you do that, those sound files can be moved, copied, and sent to another computer and opened by other programs. Audacity saves Proj...

Re: Helmet Radio Effect
You can go a long way just by getting close to the microphone. Then filter everything below about 500 to 800 and everything above 4000 to 5000. Then apply Effect > Leveler multiple times to get that robust distortion. http://www.kozco.com/lacontrol/lacontrol1b.wav HiPass Filter and Low Pass Filter s...

Re: Stuck in Mono
You told us enough to go on. Any reason you're not using the totally excellent Line-In on the side of your MBP? This may be one instance where an external sound card may actually make things worse. Audacity 1.2 wakes up in mono, but 1.3 doesn't. Are you sure you have Audacity 1.3? If I had to guess ...

Muted as in completely silent, or muted as in quieter than you think it should be?
What are you recording and on what? Pretend I want to go out and buy your computer.
