Re: Getting lots of feedback and tinny sound when recording
<<<I've tried Soundflower a number of times and I'm still getting the same problem with sound. >>> I didn't like SoundFlower because it was difficult to use. Re: Export to .wav problems
An hour show would be 650MB, not 650KB. Is that a typo? Audacity converts shows to its own internal format for editing and then depends on you Exporting As WAV or whatever your final product is. At the same time, Audacity is a terrible converter program, so it's the best of both worlds. I do almost ...

Re: signal strengh
Sound will not become louder than "1" (100%) or 0dB on the other scale. Digital audio is measured from maximum of 0 and down. There are no positive numbers. Standard broadcast test tone in Europe is -18. In the US, it's -20. You can force sound to get louder than that, but you will cause d...

<<<but when i come to lay down a second track, it all falls apart.>>> That's normal so far. <<<it's recoding everything>>> That's because your computer is not recording your performance or microphone. It's recording "Mix-Out" or "What U Hear." In English that setting records ever...

Re: amplify effect erases waveform
Another possibility is a corrupted preferences file.
Go > Home > Library > Application Support > Trash the audacity folder and restart Audacity.
Audacity needs to ask you a language when it wakes up.

Re: amplify effect erases waveform
Using Nightly Builds is dangerous because improvements aren't linear and some changes break each other. Since you're not doing rocket surgery... Back up to 1.3.10 from the main download page... http://audacityteam.org/download/ Or back up even further. I use 1.3.7 for everything. Audacity 1.3.7 -- M...
