Re: Audio dropping out of finished project

<<<I have no idea why Audacity needed to make a backup of this file>>>

I believe Audacity will try to make a backup project if it perceives you are saving a project over the same filename.

Re: Audio dropping out of finished project

Unless your show consists of multiple tracks (over two) on the timeline, you should Export As WAV to get a simple, single, common sound file. Audacity will not "Save" a sound file. It does save projects which, while they are very handy managing complex shows, are also delicate, brittle, an...

Re: Cannot play .wav on Real Player.

Assuming you did actually Export A WAV, the solution might be more straightforward. Audacity default is 32-bit Floating, not the much more common 16-bit and not everybody supports 32. Try converting the show to 16-bit and re-export. I would expect zero sound damage by doing that. This is from anothe...

Re: Audacity crashed, i can not find the files ---HELP!

I'm reviewing the question again. You may not wish to stay with Audacity 1.2. Support for Audacity 1.2 is ratty under all the advanced operating systems WinVista, Win7, Leopard, Snow Leopard. We have something of a dilemma there because Audacity 1.3.10 has known problems with Export Multiple. I use ...

I believe the live capture files are in a special hidden directory. Crash Recovery http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery Do you have any idea why Audacity crashed? If you have a great many interviews on your machine, are you filling up your hard drive? We urge people to Export A...

Re: Recovery After A Crash?

Crash Recovery http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery These tools are most useful when the computer becomes unstable or halts during a long recording. In your case, you had a contention between the operating system and Audacity for drive space. If enough of the show is damaged or...

Re: Annoying export problem/staticky sound removal.

I change the top number, compression, from 0.5 to 0.77 and the effect is almost a perfect match for the local radio station. I've never had to deal with the other settings. They've always been exactly right. Chris is the grand master at this sort of thing. If he's not enough, then you may have a ser...

Re: Recovery After A Crash?

We may need to find out why the project crashed. Sudden Computer Insanity can be caused by filling up your hard drive or hosting a virus. How big is your drive and how much is used up? Hard numbers are good. "Enough" doesn't tell us anything. If we don't at least get a clue why it crashed,...
