Re: sound quality
Does it still sound like that if you listen through headphones? Dig in Audacity preferences and make sure you are using specifications of Stereo, 16-bit, 44100. Audacity 1.2 wakes up from first birthday in Mono and 32-bit floating, both awkward settings for what you want to do. Change the settings a...

Re: A Google line for Audacity has been hijacked.
I don't know that we have anything to say about it. This is the same problem as people trying to sell you free Audacity. Our software host goes out of its way to suggest that you should be loading and paying for AVS Editor instead of Audacity. Perhaps if we can demonstrate to Google that people are ...

Re: Calibrating the volume between two tracks
Who in their right mind would hire three different sound people on the same show? I stood next to the sound guy in a club where friends of mine were performing. The sound "booth" was an open cubical next to one of the customer's tables and easily accessible to one and all. Multiple people ...

Re: Help needed with distorted audio
YouTube has always insisted on its own format and settings. The trick is to prepare your movie so the transition is as smooth as possible. What usually happens is someone demands to know how to compress their three-hour movie so YouTube's time limits can be defeated. I personally would follow the Yo...

Re: "Snap To" Trouble
In Audacity 1.3, there are Snap-To controls at the bottom of the main edit window. In 1.2 (which I don't have with me) they're buried somewhere in Edit > Preferences.

Re: Cannot play .wav on Real Player.
<<<Then I tried to open it in Windows media after exporting and I get the codec dialog box.>>> The file by itself opens up in Windows Media, right? Without going through Audacity? One step at a time. Launch Audacity fresh and open up piano2.wav. Read the numbers and values in the panel on the left o...

Re: static? noise after 30 seconds of recording
Describe in detail with part numbers what's going on between your lips and the computer. Microphone? Mixer? Connection type?
